Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our mechanical engineering division, focusing on the system design and development of optical inspection systems and Scanning Electron Microscopes (SEMs). As a member of our technical team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the performance, reliability, and innovation of our optical inspection and SEM products. Your primary responsibilities will include:
1. System Design and Development:
• Participate in the design and development of mechanical systems for optical inspection systems and SEMs, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Apply best practices for mechanical system design, including precision mechanism design, stage and chuck development, high vacuum system design, electromagnetic field isolation, thermal management, vibration control, material selection, and structural integrity.
• Ensure that mechanical systems meet stringent requirements for precision, stability, and durability essential for both optical and electron microscopy.
2. Component Integration:
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including optical engineers, electrical engineers, software developers, and system architects, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with other components of optical inspection systems and SEMs.
• Work on the integration of subsystems such as electron optics, vacuum systems, motion control mechanisms, sensors and detectors, and optical components to create cohesive and efficient platforms.
• Optimize mechanical component performance through iterative testing, simulation, and analysis.
3. Performance Optimization:
• Identify and implement opportunities for performance improvement and optimization of mechanical system components.
• Conduct system-level modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize mechanical system performance metrics such as positioning accuracy, vibration isolation, thermal stability, and structural integrity.
• Address and mitigate issues such as mechanical failures, misalignments, and thermal and electromagnetic distortions.
4. Research and Innovation:
• Stay current with the latest advancements in mechanical engineering, materials science, and system design methodologies.
• Participate in research initiatives to explore new concepts and approaches in mechanical system design and integration for optical inspection and SEM technologies.
• Contribute to Intellectual property creation.
5. Quality Assurance:
• Assist in establishing and enforcing rigorous quality assurance processes and standards for mechanical system design and development.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation activities to ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.
• Maintain robust documentation practices for design specifications, testing protocols, and validation results.
6. Technical Support:
• Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing, sales, and customer service teams to address inquiries and issues related to mechanical systems.
• Engage with key customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
7. Documentation and Reporting:
• Document designs, development processes, test results, and project milestones in technical reports and presentations.
• Provide regular updates to project stakeholders and management on project status, progress, and challenges.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in mechanical system design and development, preferably in the optical inspection, SEM, or related high-tech industries.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including materials selection, magnetic field isolation, precision motion system control, thermal management, vibration control, and structural analysis.
• Proficiency in CAD software and simulation tools for mechanical system design and analysis such as SolidWorks and ANSYS.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry or related fields is highly desirable.
